The MCRRCI was officially formed way back in those dark days of the 60's. Although the Club was concieved during 1960 it was really not until 1961 that it could boast offical membership and affiliation to the governing body, the Motor Cycle Union Of Ireland. Founding members included names such as Harry Turner, Harris Healey, Ernie Oliver and Frank Gordon. I'm sure not many of you will recognise the names, but they are the men who lead the way to the many, many years of dedicated short circuit racing at tracks such as Maghaberry, Aghadowey and now at Bishopscourt. It has always been, (and still is) the foremost aim of our Club to provide the facilities and venues and opportunity for motorcyclists to enjoy the sport of racing motorcycles at competition level in the safest and most enjoyable circumstances we are able to provide for them.
So, that's a little piece of our history for you. Here's a picture that I hope you will enjoy also. One from the scrap books (before computers and memory sticks). This one was taken in the 1960's and has two of our Club Presidents in the shot. Anyone recognise them ??
